Himachal Pradesh Congress protest against the sharp increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and gas in the country

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee staged a symbolic protest against the sharp rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and gas in the country and demanded the government to withdraw this price hike in public interest.

Congress chose to go for a symbolic protest because of the ongoing pandemic and have made it clear that if the government does not take back these hiked prices, then it will not hesitate from starting a mass movement against the ruling government.

Addressing the media at the State Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, Secretary, State Affairs, All India Congress Committee, Sanjay Dutt said that under the leadership of Congress National President Sonia Gandhi and under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi, today the Congress is staging various protests outside petrol pumps to express its anger against the rising inflation across the country. 

He said that the poor and common people are sick and tired of the anti-people policies of the Modi government. He said on one hand, people are already suffering due to the corona virus pandemic while on the other hand the rising inflation has broken the back of the people.

 He said that the central government is waiving the loans of thousands of crores of the rich and wealthy by looting the hard earned money of the poor. He alleged that the ruling government is anti-farmer and the Congress will not back down from the fight for the rights of the poor and the farmers.

Dutt has also sought an account of the money collected from the general public from the central government. He said that the Modi government should tell the country where it has spent these funds.

HPCCC President Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that today Congress is staging symbolic protests at district and block levels throughout the state by following COVID-19 protocols.

He also alleged that the BJP is not following COVID-19 protocols anywhere. Covid is not following the rules. He said that today while there is a sharp fall in the prices of crude oil at the international level, its prices are being increased every day in the country. He said that due to this rising inflation, the common and poor people are upset and the government is not worried about it.

Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri while accusing the government said that today people are suffering due to rising inflation. He said that the ruling BJP government came to power with the promise to end inflation but its promises has proven to be completely false. 

He said that all the records of inflation in the state are being broken. People are facing huge problems and are suffering due to the hike in the prices of petrol, diesel or gas or edible oil, pulses and other essential commodities.

 He said that scheme of providing ration at cheaper rates which was started by Congress government are dying out. He said that on one hand, people are suffering from corona virus and on the other hand common and poor people are further facing huge problems due to rising inflation.

In today’s symbolic protest, Sanjay Dutt, Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Mukesh Agnihotri, Anirudh Singh, Shimla District Rural President Yashwant Chhajta, Urban President Jitendra Chaudhary road a bicycle from Rajiv Bhawan to Kaithu Petrol Pump.
